Welcome!

Welcome to Petunia's Page

Petunia is a rescued bunny
who thinks he needs his own page!
See the picture of him reading the computer magazines?
He is just SOOOO smart!
OK, now if he could just teach Bunnymom
a thing or two about HTML!

Petunia reading-up on computers

Petunia loves to read, and sometimes munch on,
computer mags. He isn't too picky, though,
as he is willing try almost any magazine
within tooth-range!

Petunia with his oats

Mom isn't looking !
Quick - jump into the oat can!

My favorite hang-out!

There just HAS to be
another mouthful in here somewhere!

Petunia is a rescued bunny,
arriving at our doorstep the week after
Mother's Day, 1997.
We thought he was a she, until he reached puberty!.
Petunia had been found in a nearby park,
being tossed around like a nerf-ball
by some careless, cruel kids,
but then, thankfully, was rescued
by a friend's daughter.

Petunia was quickly brought to me,
and I hand-fed him until he could eat
on his own. Petunia suffered head-tilt
"quiver" from that rough handling earlier in his little life,
so he will live with me permanently.
He has free run of our house.
What a treasure from God!

Petunia loves to jump up on furniture
and hopping from one piece of furniture
to the next, sometimes ending up
in places he shouldn't be!
Sometimes he hops up
onto Bunnymom and Dad's bed
"Mom! Dad! Look at the little
"surprises"
I've left for you!" =;-}
And if we're still in bed, whew!
Off he jumps in a flash and a thump!
Well, 'Tunia, it IS OUR bed, you know!

Petunia has decided that Dad Olson's
TV-tray table, where Dad always seems to have
some food, is "fair-game" for his visits,
hoping for a sneak attack on Dad's plate!
Sometimes he hops onto Dad's lap
and has his little face right there
ready for the first fork-full!
We have to be sure to have
carrot or greens on the plate, "safe" bunny food!

At breakfast time, we like Quaker oatmeal
and toast with peanut butter.
Petunia has developed a real liking
for the toast crust with just a smidge of
peanut butter still on it! Chunk-style, of course.
He prefers his oats uncooked, however,
though we have to be careful he doesn't over-do.
Too many carbohydrates in a bunny's diet
aren't good for them.

Petunia is still the "ruler of the roost" around here!
Bunnymom has permanently given up her rocking chair
so that Hiz Honor can come and go on that chair whenever he feels like it.
Sneaky Bunnymom has discovered that while Petunia is busy chomping on his cracker,
Bunnymom can take this opportunity to clip a few toenails. Petunia HATES to have his toenails clipped,
so I have to be stealthy, quick, and careful! Hee hee hee!

We "bird-sat" my sister's male Cockatiel
for several months, a few years ago.
Petunia and Sweetie (NOT!) became
"almost" friends.
I tried to teach Sweetie to say
"Where's 'Tunia?"
but he resisted. He knew what I was saying though,
because then he looked all around for Petunia.
And, on a couple rare occasions,
Bunnydad fed both Petunia and Sweetie
the same wheat cracker while they were both
sitting on him, at the same time!
They had a little contest to see
who could chomp off the most cracker
before the other one got another bite!
What a riot!

Petunia and Sweetie both LOVE crackers,
so we liked to have a low-salt, low-fat,
Wheat Thin cracker available for their lap visits.
We have to hang on to the cracker real tight
or Petunia grabs it away and off he runs!
{Note: ALWAYS have to have long pants on,
as those tiny toenails are treacherous!}
If we can get him to just bite off pieces,
we can sneak in a few pet-pets
at the same time. By the way, crackers are NOT
bunny food, but a treat once a day is, I hope, OK.
The little beggar will dance on his back legs
while following us around if he thinks he can
"sweet talk" us into giving him a treat!
He even follows us around in the kitchen!
He knows that "open refrigerator door"
and "washing food" brings greens treats!
It's amazing how well he
has trained us in just a few months!
